Born in Halifax.

He was educated at Parkinson Lane School / an apprentice to a barber [1911] / a hairdresser in Leeds [1916].

During World War I, he enlisted [May 1916], and served as a Rifleman with the 17th Battalion King's Royal Rifle Corps.

He died of wounds received in action, in hospital in Boulogne, France [29th October 1916] (aged 21).

His photograph appears with a report of his death in the Halifax Courier [18th November 1916].

He was buried at Étaples Military Cemetery, France [Grave Ref VIII E 6A].

He is remembered in the Halifax Town Hall Books of Remembrance, and in Stoney Royd Cemetery

[1887-1918] Son of Matthew Jenkinson.

Born in Halifax.

In [1891, 1901], Arthur & his mother Mary Hannah were living at 42 Great Albion Street, Halifax [with his aunt Ann Brown.

His mother died in 1903, and he was raised by his aunt Ann Brown.

He was goal keeper for Boothtown AFC / employed by Fletcher Brothers.

During World War I, he enlisted [1915], and served as a Corporal with the 1st/4th Battalion Duke of Wellington's (West Riding Regiment).

He was killed in action in an attack on Mount Kemmel [26th April 1918].

His photograph appears with reports of his death in the Halifax Courier [11th May & 18th May 1918].

He is remembered on the Tyne Cot Memorial, Belgium [Grave Ref 82-85], and in the Halifax Town Hall Books of Remembrance

He went to France [29th March 1918].

He was killed in action [21st August 1918] (aged 20).

He was buried at Railway Cutting Cemetery, Courcelles-Le-Comte, France [Grave Ref A 39].
