The grave of David Rothery at Lister Lane Cemetery Plot 2081

Inscription

In Memory of

ELIZABETH ROTHERY,
WIFE OF DAVID ROTHERY,
OF HALIFAX, WHO DIED APRIL 7TH 1865,
AGED 60 YEARS.

A sudden change I in a moment felt,
I had not time to bid my friends farewell,
Death's no strange thing it happens to all,
to day's my lot to morrow you may fall.

ALSO JOHN ROTHERY, SON OF THE ABOVE,
WHO DIED OCTOBER 17TH 1862,
AGED 30 YEARS.

ALSO LOUISA, DAUGHTER OF THE ABOVE
JOHN ROTHERY, WHO DIED JUNE 26TH 1859,
AGED 2 YEARS & 4 MONTHS.

ALSO THE ABOVE DAVID ROTHERY, WHO DIED
JUNE 16TH 1884, AGED 71 YEARS.

I leave this world without a tear,
Save from the friends I held so dear.
To heal their sorrows Lord descend,
And to the friendless prove a friend.
