Anno 1802 The ancient tomb mentioned in the will of the Revd Mr BAIRSTOW, being now much decayed, his Trustees, in order to preserve it, have caused this covering to be placed around it. The following is the ancient inscription, upon the said enclosed tomb. MICHAEL BAIRSTOW was interred April 4th aged 57 and ANN his wife April 21st aged 59 in the year 1672. The Revd PAUL BAIRSTOW their son devised all his effects to pious uses, those of the Town are sixteen pounds a year for teaching 12 poor children, one pound a year to the Curate for sermon on Michaelmas Day, and that this monument be for ever repaired. These things to be paid out of the rents of two farms in Bradforddale, and the remainder to be distributed to such poor persons as receive no alms, and are not worth 50 pounds as the Curate and Chapel Wardens shall direct. |
