Charabanc accident at Cockhill: 1920



On 30th October 1920, a charabanc carrying customers of the Robin Hood, Pecket Well – on their way to a knur and spell game at Keighley – overturned on a sharp bend and ran out of control down a hillside on its way past Oxenhope church. 5 people were killed:

and 4 others were seriously injured.

All 37 passengers were from Wadsworth.

The vehicle was completely destroyed.

The dead were buried at Wainsgate cemetery.

The driver was cleared of blame
