Between May 1914 and September 1915, Arthur Comfort produced a series of drawings which were published in the The Halifax Weekly Courier.

The drawings covered one district per week. Each drawing was made up of 3 or 4 smaller sketches. Each drawing was accompanied by a short article.

It seems that the series was not published in book form.

The subjects were

  4. Midgley: Cliff Hill / Lassey Hey / Pinfold / Towngate and stocks
  5. Shibden Valley: Field House / ruins of Shibden Mill / Shibden Fold / Shibden Mill dam
  6. Mill Bank: Sportsman Inn / Main Street / miniature graveyard / Haigh Farm
  7. Northowram: Westercroft / Marsh Hall / frieze in Marsh Hall
  8. Luddenden: Lord Nelson Inn / Working Men's Club / Old Lane
  9. Sowerby: Sowerby Town post office / John Almighty and his pulpit / old St Peter's belfry at Field House
