Daniel Fielding



Daniel Fielding, the son of Mary Fielding [1808-1873] (father unknown), was born in Thornton [20th June 1827].

He was baptised at Mount Zion Methodist Chapel, Ogden [1827].

His mother, Mary, married Jonathan Clay.

He became a farmer and a brewer.

A D. Fielding was partner in Hainsworth & Fielding [dissolved 1855].

He established Daniel Fielding & Sons brewers.

He married Zillah Balme [1833-1902] of Clayton.


Zillah was born 26th December 1832

Probate of the will, dated 9th July last, of the late Mr Daniel Fielding, of Bradshaw, Halifax, brewer, who died on the 1st August, leaving a personal estate valued at £13,212 4/7d, has been granted to the executors, his son, Mr Eli Fielding; his son-in-law Mr Thomas Henry Lassey, of Bradshaw, woolstapler Mr Thomas Jackson, of Halifax, solicitor's clerk.

The testator bequeaths to his wife his furniture and household effects, the use and enjoyment for her life of one of his dwelling-houses and a life annuity of £3150.

He devises the Soil Hill Farm in trust for his daughter, Mrs Mary Lassey, and her children, but subject to the payment of one-half of this income to Mrs Fielding for her life: and he devises the Hedge House Farm upon trust in favour of his daughter Mrs Jane Lawson, and her children, but subject to the payment of one-half the income to Mrs Fielding, who is also to take one-half of the income of a mortgage debt of £2000; and a further sum of £1000 left in trust for his daughter, Mrs Alice Midgley, and her children.

Mr Fielding bequeaths upon trusts for his daughter, Mrs Hannah Longbottom, £1000; and also sums in trust for his daughter, Miss Zillah Fielding, and for his grandson, Frederick Fielding; but one-half of the income of these sums is to be paid to his wife for her life.

He leaves all the residue of his property in equal shares to his sons, Eli and Samuel Balme Fielding

 

He is mentioned in the List of Local Wills: 1892

Zillah died 3rd October 1902.
