Administration, dated 11 April 1457, of all the goods of Thomas Sayvell late of Hullingege in the parish of Halifax deceased intestate was committed to Isabella relict of the said deceased, and Henry Sayvell and Thomas Sayvell sons of the said deceased, the administrators deputed by the ordinary authority in the goods of the said deceased, they being sworn in form of law
Thomas had died in 1457. The following entry shows an attack on his widow, Isabell:
In 1461 Thomas Pilkington, and others, stole livestock including 142 rams belonging to Isabella Saville[Rosemary C.E. Hayes, Ancient Indictments in the North of England 1461-1504, p44]
In the same year, Isabell's brother, Thomas Stansfeld was targeted by the Pilkingtons and lost 30 cows and 2 oxen from his lands in Wadsworth and Hepton. [KB9/349/53]
6 Ed IV [1466-67] Grant by Richard Bryg of Heptonstall son of William Bryg senior now deceased to Isabel lately wife of Thomas Sayvyll of a tenement called Helywell' etc and also an assart called Brokerode etc in Staynland and 3 acres in Staynland conditionally upon Richard remaining undisturbed in a messuage and 3 bovates, a plot [placea] of land called Potterclyff etc in the fields of Oldton' in Waddesworth and a plot of meadow called Ingegerd etc which John Kyng once vicar of the church of Halifax granted to the aforesaid Thomas Sayvyll and Isabel in tail.[Nott Arch DD/SR/30/10]
