The following documents mention Thomas Savile and members of his family


His marriage to Ellen, the daughter of Arthur Pilkington, was an arranged marriage, as can be seen from this document:


23 Henry VIII [1531-1532] Receipt by Thomas Sayvile of Clyfton' gentleman for the payment by Arthur Pyldyngton' esq of 20 marks in part payment of a smaller sum for custody and marriage of Thomas Sayvile son of Leonard Sayvile deceased.

Thomas's father died when he was young, as can been seen from the following document, though this was written a couple of years before Leonard's death:


Guardianship deed Leonard Savile of Eland son and heir of John of Hollyngage to Thomas Savile of Bothomehall, gent., Thomas son and heir of Leonard Savile.
