To Mathew Brodley sonne of the said Samuell Brodley £500 which is now owing me from Sir Robert Howard Knt alsoe I do give unto the said Mathew Brodley the somme of £1000 which Sir William Poulters and Sir Thomas Chamberlayne Knt and Richard Spencer Esquire stand bound provided that upon the receipt thereof he bestowe £500 thereof partly uppon ?ing at convenient terms incrued for the foresaid free school and partly in providing 7/- in bread yearely for the poor of Hipperholme and Lane Ends. Other debts owing also to go to Mathew son of Samuel.
Anne Brodley mother and guardian of Mathew Brodley (minor) and nephew of the deceased appeared and took the oath 23 Sep 1648.
There is a codicil addressed to Sir William Uvedale which includes further bequests to his sister in law Anna Brodley and her four children, 31 August 1648.
