His will
In the name of God amen the xxxth day of November in
the yeare of our lord God one thousand six hundred and fowerteen I John
Broadley of Southowram within the parishe of Hallifax deceased and county
of York late (late crossed through) being sicke in bodye yett nevertheless of good and perfect remembrance
laud and praise be unto God doe ordaine and make this my present testament
containing herein my last will in this manner and forme following that is to
say first and principally before all things I comytt my soule into the hands of
almighty god in Trinity the father the sonne and the holy ghost fullye trusting and beleeveing
and beleeveing to have free remission pardon and forgiveness of all my sinnes &
offense in this transitorie world committed and done and that through the blessed
passion meritts and blood shedd of our saviour and redeemer Jesus Christ god &
man the onely redeemer and saviour of me and all mankind and to be of the
number of the elect people at the generall Resurrection Day when Christe
shall come again in his glorious majestie to judge the quicke and the dead
and my bodye to be buried within the churchyarde of Hallifax aforesaide
Item I give to my youngest daughter Judith five pounds by legacie and
towards her bringing up and for all the Residue of my goods & chattells
whatsoever I have or unto me belonginge being knowne I give them
wholye unto my five children my wife haveing her third forth of the
same and to have my said goods equally to be divided amongest
my children and I ordaine and make Marye my wife and my eldest sonne
John Broadley to be my whole executors of this my last will and I
committ the tuition of all my children unto Mary my wife as long as she
Remayneth in my name and if she marrye againe I committ my two
youngest daughters unto my brother Richard Broadley and theire portions
for him to have the tuition of them and I appoint Thomas Broadley
and Richard Broadley George Pollard and Oswald Pollard to be
supervisors of this my last will if there should be any distance amongest my
children in witness whereof Thomas Brodley, Richard Brodley &
Robert Smith being there at that testament
