County Palatine of Lancaster 1749The Overseers of the Poor of the township of Huddersfield and to the Officers of Heptonstall.
Whereas a complaint has been made to us, two of His Majesty's Justices of the Peace by Overseers of the Poor of Huddersfield aforesaid.
Robert Crabtree a Labourer, Martha his wife, John age 5, Ann age 2 and Benjamin 40 weeks their children came lately to dwell and do reside in Huddersfield and always qualified themselves so to do and that they are poor and already become chargeable to HuddersfieldWE, therefore upon examination thereof upon Oath and which the said Complainants have alleged, do adjudge the said Complainant to be true and that the said Robert Crabtree, Martha his wife, John, Ann and Benjamin are poor and already become chargeable to Huddersfield.
And that their legal settlement is in Heptonstall do hereby in His Majesty's name require and order you the said Overseers of Huddersfield to remove and convey the said Poor Persons out of Huddersfield to Heptonstall and provide for them according to law, fail not at your Perils.
Signed at Rochdale 12th June in the twenty third year of the reign of our most gracious Sovereign Lord George the Second, being in the year 1749.
