Examination of James Fielding of the township of Dewsbury, cotton spinner, touching the place of the legal settlement of him, the said James Fielding, and Ellen his wife, and Mary their child after the age of one year, taken upon Oath of two of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace on the 27th day of February 1836.Who saith as follows
I am about thirty three years of age and was born in the township of Stansfield. The place of my father's settlement was at Langfield as I have been informed and believe – I was never bound apprentice or hired for a year nor have accepted a Tenement of Two Pounds Rent or done any act whereby to gain settlement for myself. I have twice had relief from the Overseers of Langfield, the last time was about two years since. My wife is unwell and not fit to be removed.Sworn before us having been first read over to the examinant.
