Burglary at the Sowerby Bridge store of William Haigh Limited



The Halifax Evening Courier [16th February 1925] gave a detailed account of burglaries in which Joe Bottomley (aged 20) and Arthur Healey (aged 23) broke into the workshop of Siddall & Hilton Limited and the shop of William Haigh Limited at Wharf Street, Sowerby Bridge, from which they stole


Two attached cases, a suit case, four shoes, four boots, two hats, one raincoat, two jackets, two waistcoats, two pairs of trousers, three pairs of braces, one overcoat, two shirts, two vests, two pairs of pants, four socks, six ties, ten laces, 24 safety razor blades, 18 handkerchiefs, and two caps. The value of the articles was £23 19/10d
 

Shop assistant, Sidney Herbert Crowther, discovered the theft when he opened the store next morning and reported it to the Sowerby Bridge Police
